"Mom Needs A Life"
by Bonnie
An adult doing school work...yup, on the internet doing research for my masters. I am a single parent, working full time trying to get ahead.
My kids thought mom needed a life...and sent in a personal ad to AOL. I had no idea this was happening. I clicked on AOL one evening and saw a "zillion" letters.
I read a few wondering what was going on. I had no profile, I only used aol for the Internet, the kids well chat rooms and im's to friends.
Every once in a while while I was doing research an IM would pop on the screen stating they saw my ad! I canceled them all..never even
responding. Please, I don't want to be bothered!
One evening, I was working and studying...it was getting close to me finishing up this research. And, IM popped up on the screen. I reached the mouse over to click it to cancel...something caught my eye....single dad with twins.
I didn't cancel him. Just said thats nice. He started talking to me, and I answered him. Kind of snippy, but I answered. We continued to speak. Two different states, 5 hours away...this will never work!!
He was persistant to meet me. I had lots of excuses, some real, well some not - I was scared. I heard the stories about meeting on AOL.
Finally, he got me. I was falling in love...me in love with someone I never met? Lots of phone calls...lots of phone bills.
Well, in April, I finally agreed to meet him. He made arrangements at a hotel near where I live. I had kids...no way was I gonna bring him here, nor did he know his way around N.J.
He called me when he arrived...around 11 pm on a Friday nite. I went there..scared outta my mind, nervous is beyond word, but ya know what? I knew that my love was real.
We spent a great weekend together...and a few months later...I brought him to my home to meet my kids. Both girls adored him.
Today, I am madly in love..we want to get married. I will have to move to Pennsylvania..his kids are younger...joint custody.
We both own houses, so I will sell out when my youngest daughter is finished with school; which is in 2 years.
We talk every day on here, then George always wants to call me just to hear my voice and say goodnite. He drives here every other weekend just about. Eventually, I will drive there and meet his family.
Its difficult for me to just "leave" to visit because I have my daughter...her dad doesn't take her everyother weekend....heck we are lucky if he sees her one hour a month!
George adores my girls....and I am greatful...for they adore him. Although I haven't officially told them I am gonna marry him......they see mom happy, mom smile and say "Mom marry George" Funny how it started with a simple personal ad "Mom needs a Life"
