Not All Russians are Mail-Order

My senior year at high school. I had just gotten out of a relationship where I loved the lady VERY much, but she didnt feel the same. I met a foreign exchange student from Chita, Russia. She had the most gorgeous smile I had ever seen. But at first we only talked in the class, never met or chatted outside of those walls. As the weeks turned into months we got to know eachother. Went to a movie, Cast Away, and I got to chat with her host mother who came to pick her up after the movie. Not much happened after that.
Finally, near the end of the year, about a month before the Senior Prom, we started talking to eachother more. We would meet after school and talk for a while, but nothing ever seemed to come of it. But about a week before tickets went on sale for prom, I got the gumption to ask her to the dance. I could only imagine the stark terror that would have crossed her face! But quite to the contrary, she was exstatic about going with me; never was I more surprised at anything in my entire life! Prom was great, despite the fact that I can't dance and she is a formally trained Ballroom dancer.
Two days after I asked her to the dance, she recieved a letter from the company that sponsered her exchange, saying that they were recalling all the students early because one of 37 wanted to graduate from their own class. Luckily, she didnt have to leave until after prom.
The day that her plane left, I went with her to the airport, she could barely speak because she was crying. I didnt even try. I knew I would loose my cool, and every guy knows that he cant lose his cool. The next few days went by ever so slowly. One day, I got online to check my email, not like anyone ever sent me anything, but I faked it so I would feel better. An email with unrecognized letters was at the top of the list. Curious, I read it and to my surprise, it was from her.
Ever since then, we have been chatting over MSN, and sending emails to and fro. And in just over a year, she will be back in the US with me, where she belongs :)
