Love Story #4071
Made for each other,
by Jeannette
Hello everyone, here goes my story: When I was 18yrs old, I went out on a blind date and met my soul mate without knowing it. His eyes were one of the nicest things about him as they did something strange to me.At the time,I didn't know exactly what, but sure do now!! Our relationship lasted approximately 4-6 months mainly because, some of his friends thought that it was "macho"if a boy could get away having two girlfriends (one in the north & one in the south)During his 21st birthday party, I found out what kind of game he was playing and left, never to see him again. We both got married to different people & after 10years of marriage,I got divorced and migrated to the US.After some 42 YEARS and on my second marriage,I received an overseas call and it was him.You can quite imagine my surprise when he mentioned his name.I became very quiet as I was truly in some type of shock. At the beginning of our conversation,he asked me if I ever forgave him. I couldn't quite understand the question at first, until he proceeded to remind me of his Birthday party some forty years ago.During our lengthy conversation, he told me that his marriage did not work out from the start and after about two years, thoughts of me started to come into his head, (no less than every other day.)He then came to accept the fact that he made a terrible mistake by marrying the wrong girl.It was then that he realized that he truly loved me and we were meant to be together. He also told me that after 10 years of marriage,he began telling his friends how he should have married me and felt that we were soul mates. I asked him why did he remain in his marriage so long after realizing his mistake. He said that his wife was mistreating their children so he decided to stick it out until they grew older and could defend themselves. After leaving his wife and family,he lived for two years alone in a desolated part of the country. It was at this stage of his life that he began to go through a terrible case of depression. Then, finally a friend of his got my phone number for him. I received that most important overseas call in Sept/02 and since then, we have been talking & getting to know each other again via the telephone. During the month of Feb/03,I paid a visit to my home country (some 3000 miles away) in order to meet with him again. Anyone can imagine my excitement as my plane landed and I saw him for the first time(after 42years)He was waiting to greet me with a bouquet of red roses and his entire face seemed to have been lit up.I spent a "Heavenly" two weeks and we saw each other everyday and night. It was like a dream come true! We talked and cried so much and after a while, I too realized that I still loved him. To make things even more perfect,we got to celebrate our first Valetine's day together. Its incredible that it took us 42years and nearly lost what we had, so now we know that we must truly be soul mates. And I now know that his eyes truly hold the secret of our love and right now,we are planning to spend whats left of our lives together.
